Roadworks: LBSP is once again easily accessible via exit 8 on the A44 motorway
LBSP can be reached from The Hague and Amsterdam via the A44 motorway by taking the Leiden exit (exit 8).
From 13 September onwards, the Leiden-Zuid exit (exit 9) on the A44 will be closed permanently, as indicated in the picture, but this will not hamper access to LBSP. When the N434 (Corbulo tunnel) becomes operational in 2023, a new Leiden-Zuid exit will be opened.

Shared facilitities
Several parties at the LBSP offer shared facilities of which a few are highlighted below. Please contact them directly for more information.
The Netherlands Centre for Electron Nanoscopy (NeCEN) is the open access research facility for cryo-electron microscopy in the Netherlands. Its mission is to provide access to cutting-edge electron microscopy technology and expertise. Research institutes and companies are welcome to apply for services at NeCEN, which range from specimen preparation and data collection to image processing and training. The cryo-electron microscopes at NeCEN are specifically designed to explore complex biological structures.
The new Nikon BioImaging Lab (NBIL) will provide companies and academic institutes with a unique opportunity to use the latest microscope technology and develop core skills in a wide range of sample preparation and microscopy imaging experiments. Support will include Nikon’s market-leading systems for confocal, super-resolution microscopy and high content imaging. The lab will also provide an advanced image analysis service on powerful workstations with data storage and management systems. See the events highlight below for their opening event on 22 September.
LUMC is home to first-class medical imaging facilities. Get access to advanced technologies like 7 Tesla human and animal MRI scanners, GMP laboratories and PET without the need for huge investments. The Department of Radiology encourages collaboration in various areas, including pharmacological MRI, perfusion MRI, imaging of BBB functioning, quantitative imaging of neuromuscular diseases, PET and glymphatics.

Access to Knowledge community
The Access to Knowledge community was recently split into several knowledge networks with the following topics: RegMed (ATMPs), Early diagnostics (including imaging) and AI and Big Data. In future, we could expand the networks further to other themes such as infectious diseases, vaccines and pandemic preparedness, prevention and lifestyle. The LBSP Foundation will facilitate these knowledge networks.
These knowledge networks will determine the content and programme of our new Tech Talks which will take place again starting this autumn, hopefully physically. Keep a close eye on our community LinkedIn group and website for the upcoming activities and Tech Talks. Contact us (community@lbsp.nl) if you would like to join one of our knowledge networks or if you have an idea for a new network.
In addition to Access to Knowledge, we have four other communities at LBSP:

Introducing Esmé, our team member
I feel privileged to be part of this organisation and excited to be in the middle of everything that is happening here at LBSP. This place inspires me to take my creativity and outside-the-box mentality to the next level.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey, this is me!
My name is Esmé Postma, I am 25 years old and live in Zoetermeer with my partner.
Creativity and a hands-on mentality have been coursing through my veins from an early age: painting, crafting and organising games. It therefore came as no surprise to my friends and family when I graduated as an event organiser and graphic designer from the Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam.
I have been part of the LBSP Foundation since December 2019. The foundation brings together organisations, companies and knowledge institutes so that they can work on improving health.
And that, in my opinion, is very important work.
Maybe we have already met during a live event or webinar. For those who do not yet know me,
I am the face behind the organisation of the live and online events. I also designed and created the new LBSP identity displayed on the website, newsletters, invitations, PowerPoint presentations, videos, images, podcasts, etc.
I look forward to meeting you all at one of our events. In the meantime, we could always connect on LinkedIn. See you soon!
