Detecting water in chocolate milk is typically a challenge for single-wavelength optical sensors. If cocoa is present, adding water to the mixture will result in further emulsification. The product looks whiter and water is only recognized if a lot has been added. This creates problems on the packaging lines when the customer wants to stop packaging just as water arrives to minimize product loss.

The solution for this is the SATRON VOA dual wavelength sensor. For comparison, the response curve of a single-wavelength sensor and a double-wavelength sensor is shown below.
