| Report: 'Without international students, the Leiden region will go quiet'
Knowledge, entrepreneurship, and education drives the economy of the Leiden region forward. The number of jobs at the LBSP is steadily increasing, and the number of startups is also growing significantly. However, caution should be exercised in slowing down the internationalisation of university education. This is stated in the 'Index071 volume 2022-2023', compiled by Blaauwberg on behalf of the Economic Partnership 071, which includes Leiden, Leiderdorp, Oegstgeest, Voorschoten, Zoeterwoude, and Katwijk.
The search for employers to fill vacancies at the LBSP is a focal point. Recruitment campaigns are being conducted to attract international talent. Index071 emphasizes the need to be cautious in slowing down the internationalisation of university education, which has been a topic of much debate. "Without these international students, even the thriving 071 area will become silent," warns the report. It acknowledges that the educational function of the Leiden region is doing well, but the internship market for vocational students is under pressure.

Safe and Sustainable Working Environment
Following the meetings of the safety working group and the analyses from the prevention report, 2022, we would like to draw your attention to several measures that contribute to a safe and sustainable working environment at the LBSP.
Carefully close all doors and windows after office hours: We kindly request everyone to ensure that all doors and windows in the office are properly closed after office hours. This also prevents confusion for the security team and unnecessary alarm activations. By taking responsibility collectively, we contribute to a safe working environment for us all.
Turn off the light when leaving the office: After office hours, it is important to turn off all lights in the office. This not only saves energy but also aligns with our commitment to sustainability. We encourage everyone to be conscious of energy consumption and to collaborate in creating a more sustainable working environment. |
