Facility management network meetings

The OVBSP entrepreneurs’ association is organising regular network meetings for facility professionals working at LBSP. These events will have interesting themes related to facility services, including sustainability, energy, waste management and building management.

By sparring and exchanging experiences, we aim to encourage a transfer of knowledge and spark new initiatives in facility management.

Are you a driven professional interested in learning about and contributing to themes in facility services? Get in touch with Niels Gerritsen, facility manager at BaseClear.

Tip: Private security window stickers for calamities

Having the sticker at your building entrance with the contact details of your security firm to contact can save previous time in case of a calamity.

Meet our start-ups at unlock_LiveScience

Naturalis is partnering with unlock_ to showcase cutting-edge life science innovations at unlock_LiveScience events. Everyone is welcome to participate and collaborate with start-ups in the LSH sector and the events are a great way to meet up. The unlock_LiveScience project is made possible via the campus grants scheme initiated by the Province of South Holland.

The first edition of unlock_LiveScience took place on 2 June in the Naturalis LiveScience Hall. Naturalis biologist and PhD student Mátyás Bittenbinder and Niels Ouwerkerk from Doser presented insights into biodiversity research on snake venom and personalised medicine.

We look forward to bringing you more LiveScience in the future.

We’ve got a lot going on at the LBSP. Did you know that...

◼️ Expat Centre walk-in mornings every Thursday at LBSP

The Expat Centre is organising walk-in mornings every Thursday at LBSP. All Leiden-based employers looking for information on how to hire international employees and help them settle in the region are welcome to attend. Find out more here: ECL Will Start Walk-In Mornings for Employers | Expat Centre Leiden.

◼️ Big Questions theme hall opened at Rijksmuseum Boerhaave

Minister of Education, Culture and Science Robbert Dijkgraaf opened the completely revamped Big Questions theme hall at Rijksmuseum Boerhaave on 23 June. Big Questions is an inspiring audio-visual journey exploring the wealth that today’s science has to offer and sharing perspectives on what lies ahead.

Based on the themes covered in Big Questions, visitors are invited to put their questions to 13 international scientists active in areas such as the universe, body and health and the Earth and climate. By discussing research findings on how research is conducted, Rijksmuseum Boerhaave brings the public and today’s researchers closer together.

The museum’s collection also plays an important role in translating the narrative of contemporary science through the novel collectible objects on display at a prominent location in the theme hall. Think of the first lab-grown burger, the artificial pancreas and the ampoule and syringe of the first covid vaccination administered in the Netherlands. These and other objects show how today’s science plays a big part in shaping the future and seamlessly connect to the museum’s current collection strategy.
