◼️ Big Questions theme hall opened at Rijksmuseum Boerhaave
Minister of Education, Culture and Science Robbert Dijkgraaf opened the completely revamped Big Questions theme hall at Rijksmuseum Boerhaave on 23 June. Big Questions is an inspiring audio-visual journey exploring the wealth that today’s science has to offer and sharing perspectives on what lies ahead.
Based on the themes covered in Big Questions, visitors are invited to put their questions to 13 international scientists active in areas such as the universe, body and health and the Earth and climate. By discussing research findings on how research is conducted, Rijksmuseum Boerhaave brings the public and today’s researchers closer together.
The museum’s collection also plays an important role in translating the narrative of contemporary science through the novel collectible objects on display at a prominent location in the theme hall. Think of the first lab-grown burger, the artificial pancreas and the ampoule and syringe of the first covid vaccination administered in the Netherlands. These and other objects show how today’s science plays a big part in shaping the future and seamlessly connect to the museum’s current collection strategy.
