Designed to mutually inspire and develop ideas, our 'Access to' communities bring together entrepreneurs, employees, researchers, students, experts and investment partners. The communities provide access to the ecosystem network, capital and key insights that facilitate professional development and organisational growth.

We have been busy, here are a few updates:

Human Capital Community

Launch Human Capital Agenda (HCA) LBSP

The LBSP is an important growth hub for the province of South Holland and the entire Dutch economy. It is the place in the Netherlands where more than 350 companies and knowledge institutions work together to develop new medicines, vaccines and therapies. This varies from start-ups to large, international companies such as Janssen, which has developed a corona vaccine in Leiden that is sold worldwide. The increase in the number of jobs here has been higher than the national average for years. And that growth will continue: the companies and institutions present at LBSP expect an increase from the current 20,000 jobs to 27,000-30,000 jobs in 2027, according to research that was done for by the Human Capital Agenda LBSP.

The parties behind the HCA propose that education, companies and governments work together more intensively. The impending shortage of talent can be reduced in the short and long term along six 'action lines'.

With this Human Capital Agenda, entrepreneurs, educational institutes and government will work together in the coming years to meet the demand for talent.

On 7 December was the lauch of the Human Capital Agenda (HCA) during the 'Zonder Talent Geen Groei' event.

Projects

Call to action: renewed internship platform

We are pleased to announce that, in an effort to strengthen the ties between the students and the organizations on the LBSP, the LBSP internship platform has been renewed. Therefore, we are asking all organisations that are interested in introducing their company to the students of Leiden (and other regional, national and international young talent) to publish their internships on the renewed internship platform. This can be done through the same ‘My Park’ account that is used for job offerings. https://leidenbiosciencepark.nl/mypark/login

Insights from this project were discussed during the Human Capital event on 13 December.

Facts & Figures

Currently the LBSP Facts and Figures project is nearing its end stages. The objective of this project is to

create (and maintain) more insight into the societal and economic impact of the LBSP’s resident organizations,

as well as the LBSP’s current and future development. The obtained insights of this project will be used

to further improve the internal ecosystem as well as the national and international positioning of the LBSP.

A new Coffee Bar & meeting area named VRIJ has opened on the LBSP

Opening the coffee bar is part one of the catering concept that owners Tessa van Straaten and Erwin Slierings have in mind. While the ground floor is already open, they are working hard on part two upstairs: a creative brainstorm and meeting room with a terrace that they will rent out to surrounding companies at the LBSP. Opening is foreseen in the spring of 2023.

At VRIJ you can go for specialty coffee and tea, lunch and delicious baked goods. All products are easy to take with you, but can also be eaten in the cozy living room on the ground floor.

Located: Zernikedreef 4, 2333 CL Leiden (across Hoge School Leiden)
