What happened in February? |
February at Leiden Bio Science Park (LBSP) was a month of plenty of activity, showcasing our commitment to creating opportunities to network.
We kicked off with an international touch, hosting a distinguished delegation from Korea, including Joonyeon Chang, Director-General of the Gangneung branch at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), alongside Hyoung Seok Kim and Kyungsu Kang. This visit underscored our dedication to global collaboration and set the stage for potential future partnerships.
Our community's thirst for knowledge was evident in the success of the Tech Talk on the microbiome held at Plus Ultra. This event, focusing on the latest in industrial applications, drew a large audience of experts and enthusiasts, proving LBSP's role as a hub for scientific exchange.
The overwhelming interest in our Life Sciences Café led to a sold-out February event, highlighting the park's role as a premier venue for networking and idea exchange among professionals, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Encouraged by this enthusiasm, we are eagerly preparing for next edition on March 21st to be held in the inviting space of Grand Café De Stal.
On februari 8th The Biotech Training Facility in collaboration with Werkgeversservicepunt Holland Rijnland, BMS, JNJ and Batavia Biosciences kicked of a pilot training programme with a very well attended information session for currently unployed job seekers without a LS background. Over 50 job seekers were present and many were interested in joining the programme. Candidate selection is well underway and the pilot programme is scheduled to start this spring.
CIV Bio Sciences organised two lively Lifelong Learning events: partners Biotech Training Facility and Hogeschool Leiden together with Rescop organised a playful session on data management and data integrity. Partner Randstad shared insights (over breakfast) on how to join forces in times of biosciences talent shortages.
February was also marked by the excitement of the Gulliver final, a testament to our support for entrepreneurial talent. Offering €10,000 to the winner Juvoly, this event not only showcased innovative business plans but also embodied our commitment to nurturing the next generation of life sciences entrepreneurs.
