LBSP Community As of October 1, Esther Peters is the new director of the Leiden Bio Science Park Foundation (LBSP)
She succeeds Ida Haisma, who has led the Foundation since September 2019. Ida Haisma has built a Life Sciences & Health ecosystem at the Leiden Bio Science Park where communities, collaboration and innovation & valorization are key.
Esther Peters has earned her marks in building innovation ecosystems and establishing collaborations in the triple helix – most recently as Director of the NL Space Campus. Her assignment will be to take the LBSP to the next level of professionalization and internationalization and further establish the LBSP as global hotspot for Life Sciences & Health and world-class innovation district.

| LBSP Community The Makerspacement is now open - Startups make headway in high-tech workshop and Makerspace
For aspiring tech entrepreneurs, it's a challenge to create prototypes of their ideas without financial resources. That's why, at PLNT, they have established a state-of-the-art workshop where entrepreneurs can fully embrace experimentation: the Makerspacement.
PLNT would like to express their gratitude to the #RaboImpactfonds for their generous donation. In the near future, PLNT will also welcome students to gain practical experience and learn more about entrepreneurship.

Days of Art & Sciences
Coming September, an interdisciplinary event named 'Days of Art & Science' will take place in Leiden for the first time. The Days of Art & Science - this year from 11 to 17 September - encompass a variety of unique activities at the intersection of art and science, in complete alignment with the spirit of the city. Each event offers its own extraordinary experience, including the Night of Discoveries, Brave Young Minds, Brave New World, and Wavelength Festival.

Leiden leads: new developments in vaccine research
On 2 November the symposium Leiden leads: new developments in vaccine research will take place at the Education Building (Building 3) of the LUMC. This event will provide a platform for PhD students and Postdocs from Leiden University, LUMC, and other organisations at the Leiden Bio Science Park to share their work on vaccine research. Whether it pertains to fundamental and biomedical research, or clinical trials, we welcome projects from the entire spectrum; the symposium will be opened and closed by experienced scientists from the field in Leiden. In addition to showcasing Leiden as a leading force in vaccine research, our aim is to find novel leads for future projects and foster connections among researchers within the Leiden scientific community.

7 September Meet fellow Leidenaren during the monthly Meet&Mingle network event! Meeting other people can be difficult – that’s why Leiden International Centre is organising a monthly Meet&Mingle, where you can meet other people in the Leiden region in a casual setting.
This edition of the Meet&Mingle will be organised in cooperation with the municipality of Leiden. Fleur Spijker, alderman for Economy, Knowledge, Sports & Health at Gemeente Leiden, will also be present this evening.

Human Capital event This meeting is entirely dedicated to action line 4 of the Human Capital Agenda Leiden Bio Science Park: ‘The Leiden Bio Science Park (LBSP); the place to be for international LSH professionals’,
We will discuss what the opportunities are to increase the influx and retention of international knowledge workers (WO - HBO - MBO) and students and how that could be enforced by a better international promotion, positioning and branding of the LBSP as an attractive ecosystem for international talent on a local, regional and national level. |

20 September TNO Symposium
This symposium emphasizes the importance of beneficial synergistic effects of combinations of fibres and their interactions with other compounds. Moreover, we celebrate the end of a period of 38 years at TNO of Jan-Willem van der Kamp.
Trends towards more plant-based foods and reduction of levels of sugars and fats may contribute to a higher intake of fibres. This symposium will present new insights and technologies for exploring and optimising synergistic effects and thereby contributing to personal and public health. |

FIGON - The Dutch Medicines Days
The Dutch Medicines Days bring together professionals who are involved in pharmaceutical sciences in order to exchange the latest scientific results, experiences, and information and to build and strengthen collaboration at regional and international level.
The Dutch Medicines Days is the conference where partners from industry, scientific and professional associations, universities, business and government can present their findings, share new scientific content and strengthen their network.

ISPE Leiden Bio Science Park Site Visit
The ISPE (International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering) Emerging Leaders team is organising a LBSP Site Visit event in collaboration with several renowned biotech companies at the Leiden Bio Science Park (LBSP). Three companies at the LBSP - NecstGen, Batavia Biosciences, and Halix - will open their doors to the visitors on 26 October. During this event, you will be able to visit one of these three companies, hear more about its daily business, ask your questions to the company representative, and follow a guided tour around the facilities! This is a great opportunity for young professionals and students who are willing to broaden their scope of the biotech and pharma business landscape. After the company visit, there will be an opportunity to network with all participants during networking drinks at the BioPartner 1 building at LBSP.
